Also, multiple course specific info sessions will be held by faculty on campus in late September / early October. All info session dates are listed here.
The application materials required by the faculty vary depending on the course and will be explained during the info sessions, as well as the course selection process and criteria.
Payments and Deadlines
Students will be informed of their acceptance or waitlist in a course by October 10th. They will also be notified of scholarship assignments. All selected students will have a week (October 10-16) to complete their registration and payment, and secure their place in the course. If a payment is not made by October 16, the place will be offered to a waitlisted student. Waitlisted students will be allowed to register starting October 17th.
RISD is pleased to announce that need-based scholarships are available for RISD students for Wintersession Travel Courses 2018. The scholarship may cover part or the entire course tuition.
RISD scholarships are awarded based in part on a combination of financial need and academic merit. Because scholarship funds are limited, not all applicants will receive funding. The deadline for applying for a Wintersession Travel Course scholarship is October 2nd.
Students can apply to scholarship travel funds here.
All course tuitions include shared accommodation, studio space, local transportation, field trips, tours, guides and lectures, museums and/or site visits fees, some group lunch/dinners, Health and Travel Insurance through GeoBlue. In specific cases, additional details (such as airfare, materials, additional meals, etc) might be included. Please review the specific course description.
Passport and visa
All participants must have a valid passport expiring at least six months after the final day of the course. Participants are responsible for maintaining their own legal status and applying for their Visa (if requested). Upon request, RISD Global will provide participants with a registration letter in support of their Visa process (Note: International students must set up an appointment with OISS and will receive the letter from OISS). .
RISD reserves the right to cancel a course due to low enrollment. Final course confirmation will be sent to registered students by October 26th, 2017.
