Registration and payment process
Registration for Global Summer Studies 2018 is open until April 8th, 2018. All courses have limited capacity and accept max 14 students. Registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis. To secure your spot, you must submit a registration form and pay a $1.500 non-refundable deposit.
Once the registration form and deposit are submitted, you will receive a confirmation e-mail with details regarding the payment of the remaining tuition balance, that will need to be submitted by April 8th, 2018 in order for official registration to occur. The balance can be paid via www.risdtravel.afford.com using a credit card or US checking/savings account (US checking/savings account payments will not be available after March 12th). Applicants who won't complete their payment by April 8th will lose their spot and the deposit already submitted.
Any late registration submitted after March 11th, 2018 will require full payment. Registration closed on April 8th.
If a course is full, you can be added to the waitlist, and be contacted if a spot will become available after the final deadline of April 8th. The possibilities, although, are very limited. Please contact RISD Global at firstname.lastname@example.org to be added to a course waitlist.
Payments and deadlines
January 16 – March 11, 2018 Registration is open through non-refundable $1,500 deposit. Applicants who paid the $1,500 deposit must pay the remaining tuition by April 8th.
March 12 – April 8 Late registration through full payment only.
April 8 Registration deadline. Full payments required
April 9 – 10 Notification to waitlisted students
April 13 Communication to participant about course confirmation/cancellation

All course tuitions include shared accommodation, studio space, local transportation, field trips, tours, guides and lectures, museums and/or site visits fees, some group lunch/dinners, Health and Travel Insurance through GeoBlue. In specific cases, additional details (such as materials, additional meals, etc) might be included. Please review the specific course description. Participants are responsible for their travel arrangements to and from the course location.
RISD Global Summer Studies are open to art and design undergraduate and graduate students, as well as professionals. The programs don’t have prerequisite and/or portfolio requirements. Space is limited and applications are processed on a first come-first serve basis. All courses are taught in English, so language proficiency is a mandatory requirement. To enroll in the course, RISD students are required to have a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA at the time of registration.
RISD Global Summer Studies offer 3 credits. Prior to enrolling, applicants must review the acceptance/transfer of credits with their Academic Advisors.
For RISD students, credits will be applied according to defined requirements for the student's major. Academic advisors /Department Heads can provide more information about requirements application.
Non-RISD students may request an official transcript displaying their earned credits and grade for the course by visiting www.getmytranscript.com. Please be advised that the transcript will not be available until after official grading has taken place.
Passport and visa
All participants must have a valid passport expiring at least 6 months after the final day of the course. Participants are responsible for maintaining their own legal status and applying for their Visa (if requested). Upon request, RISD Global will provide participants with a registration letter in support of their Visa process.
RISD Global reserves the right to cancel a course due to low enrollment. Final course confirmation will be sent to registered students by April 10, 2018. Participants should not book airline tickets or make travel arrangements prior to the course confirmation. Any cost incurred in such situation is on the participant’s responsibility. In case of cancellation, all payments will be refunded in full.
The withdrawal from a RISD Global Summer Studies results in a “F” grade and the loss of any refund.
Applicants are eligible for refund, excluding the non-refundable $1,500 deposit, until the registration deadline of April 8th, 2018. To obtain a refund, applicants must submit written notification of withdrawal to RISD Global at firstname.lastname@example.org. After the registration deadline of April 8th, 2018, refunds for RISD Global Summer Studies will no longer be issued.
