Registration for RISD Global Summer Studies 2019 is first come-first serve and it’s open until April 11, 2019. Register online and reserve a seat in the course though a (non-refundable) $1,500 deposit: the remaining balance will be due by March 31, 2019. Between April 1-11, full payment is required to reserve a seat in the course.
All courses offer 3 RISD credits from the specific RISD department where the faculty is currently teaching. Each RISD Global Summer Study has a limited availability of 14 students (16 for the courses at the RISD site in Rome, only).
If you are a RISD student currently enrolled in any year/department and you have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 at the time of registration, you are eligible for registration. Note: Students seeking exception to this academic policy should contact the Registrar at email@example.com with any questions.
If you are a college student currently enrolled in another art/design college or institution around the world, or a professional practicing in the field, you are also eligible to register for any RISD Global Summer Study.
DEADLINES + PAYMENTS
Registration for RISD Global Summer Studies 2019 is open until April 11, 2019.
You must register online and reserve your seat in the course either through full payment or though a (non-refundable) $1,500 deposit. If you pay a deposit only at your time of registration, your remaining balance will be due on March 31, 2019. If balance is not received, you will be removed from the course roster and your deposit will be forfeited.
Between April 1-11, full payment is required to reserve a seat in the course.
Payment may be submitted using an electronic check (via bank account, only until March 12, 2019) or via credit card (for the entire duration the registration period). Questions regarding payment should be directed to the Office of Student Financial Services at firstname.lastname@example.org.
By March 31, full payment collection is required of students who paid deposit only at their time of registration. Students who register after March 31 are required to make full payment, as deposits are no longer accepted.
Registration closes on April 11, 2019. The courses will be confirmed by April 13,2019.
Please Note: No travel arrangements (such as flights or hotel bookings made before or after course dates) should be completed until you receive an official course confirmation email from RISD.
Each course’s tuition includes all shared accommodation, studio space, local transportation for field trips, tours, guides and lectures, museum and/or site visits fees, some group lunch/dinners, and international travel health insurance offered by RISD’s designated provider. In some cases, additional items (such as course materials, additional meals, etc.) may be included. Please review the specific course description for more details. Tuition does not include the airfare to course destination.
Please note: to participate in the RISD Global Summer Studies, all students are required to stay in RISD- provided housing for the duration of the course.
SEI SCHOLARSHIPS (FOR RISD STUDENTS ONLY)
Need-based scholarships are available, with additional application, for RISD students only. The scholarships may cover part of, or the entire, course tuition. Scholarship applications close on Friday, February 22, 2019. Applicants should be notified of award decisions by February 29, 2019.
PASSPORT + VISA
All participants must have a valid passport expiring at least six months after the final day of the course. Participants are responsible for maintaining their own legal status and applying for their Visa (if necessary). Upon request, RISD Global will provide participants with a registration letter in support of their Visa process.
RISD reserves the right to cancel a course due to low enrollment. Final course confirmation will be sent to registered students by April 14, 2019. Participants should not book airline tickets or make travel arrangements prior to the course confirmation. Any cost incurred in such situation is the participant’s responsibility. In case of cancellation, all payments will be refunded in full.
Withdraw from a RISD Global Summer Study follows the regular RISD withdrawal policy from a RISD off-campus global learning program (see here).
