In summer 2018, RISD Global offered a series of 5 creative and culturally immersive courses in 5 diverse locations around Europe, Asia, and Africa. All RISD faculty lead the 3-4 week Global Summer Studies, which are open to art and design students and professionals.
RISD Global Summer Studies courses are open to all art and design undergraduate and graduate students, enrolled at RISD or in other art and design colleges or institutions, as well as professionals.
As a core part of its mission to educate artists, designers, architects, scholars, and leaders to make lasting contributions to a global society, RISD is committed to developing ever-relevant off-campus global learning opportunities.
Between summer 2016 and 2017, RISD ran 13 Global Summer Studies that engaged RISD & non-RISD students with art and design practice in multiple parts of the world, from Iceland and Germany to Japan, from South Korea to Italy and Ireland. Over 200 participants enrolled in RISD Global Summer Programs in the last 2 years, and RISD Faculty engaged in different disciplines such as photography, industrial design, architecture, printmaking, illustration and drawing around 3 different continents.
