Summer Artists' Residency at University of Lisbon
The Faculty of Fine Arts of Lisbon is the oldest artistic schools of high education in Portugal. With its origin connected to the Fine Arts Academy, founded in 1836, this Faculty has become through time an artistic school linked to contemporary art and design, guided by a constant preoccupation of occupying a place of action in nowadays culture.
The Faculty is located at the historical center of the city, pole of Lisbon’s modernity statement since the XIX century, occupying the building that once was the Monastery of Saint Francis of Chiado, faithfully representing the creative and timeless spirit that Faculty the of Fine Arts attempts to materialize.
It is in accordance to this purpose and with the idea of promoting an artistic culture aware of the reality of our time that the program of artistic residences of fine arts of Lisbon was created, meeting the needs of global circulation of knowledge.
Taking advantage of the remarkable space that surrounds it, the Faculty of Fine Arts of Lisbon gives the opportunity to artists all around the world of meeting the dynamics of a city that appeals to creative unrest.
From the wonderful blue of Tejo River, passing through the warm and human nights of Lisbon and to until the witty and transcendent space of the old Monastery of Saint Francis, this program puts together the right ingredients to offer to artists in residence a unique and inspiring experience to be enjoyed as an individual journey or in an environment of cooperation with other artists.
The residences have a minimum participation period of two weeks and a maximum period of two and a half months. The exact duration is chosen by each applicant within the interval above mentioned.
There are 20 vacancies for the Artistic Residences of Fine Arts Lisbon program for artists. The applications needs to be send to firstname.lastname@example.org between 20th March and 20th May, with the following PDF documents attached:
· Registration form properly
· Personal portfolio
· Updated CV, with details of academic education, research, professional experience and other information that you may consider relevant
· Motivation letter
· License to publish photos or other information about the works developed during the artistic residence (attached only in case of permission)
· Copy of ID (citizen card or passport)
